CROW'S HISTORY

1935

A.F. Crow founds Crow’s Seed Company near Milford, Illinois. Crow also operated a leading farm in Iroquois County during this time.

1950's

Crow’s Hybrids branched out farther in the Eastern Corn Belt. In the 1950’s, A. F. Crow was an innovator in developing high-lysine maize. Crow’s was dominant in the industry releasing commercial high-lysine hybrids.

1970's

Crow’s Hybrids becomes one of the leading regional brands across the wider Corn Belt in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Known for great product, highly skilled seedsmen, and regional expertise.

1990’s

In the late 1990s, Don Funk, from across the state line in Indiana, acquired Crow’s. The Crow’s brand became the center point for a new seed company Funk started, known as Channel Bio Corp. Don Funk grew the Crow’s brand, in seven short years, to a substantial market share position in the Eastern Corn Belt. Monsanto then acquired Crow’s and integrated it into what is now the Channel brand.

2023

In 2023, Dan Funk, Don’s son, re-acquired the Crow’s brand, specifically for use in the Eastern Corn Belt. Like his predecessors, Dan Funk, is focused on creating value for Eastern Corn Belt by challenging the status quo on their behalf.
